Republicanism

Defenders
The Defenders were a Roman Catholic agrarian secret society in 18th-century Ireland, founded in County Armagh. The Defenders had allied with the United Irishmen, and participated in the 1798 rebellion.
Orange Order
The Loyal Orange Institution, more commonly known as the Orange Order, is a Protestant fraternal organisation based primarily in Northern Ireland.
Act of Union
The Acts of Union united the Kingdom of Great Britain and the Kingdom of Ireland to create the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland
Yeomanry
The Yeomanry was formed from the ranks of the landlord and planter classes to counteract the spread of sedition. The Yeomanry searched the country for anyone sympathetic to the rebels or United Irishmen, and meted out cruel and instant punishment
Loyalist
The term loyalist was first used in Irish politics in the 1790s to refer to Protestant British settlers in Ireland who opposed Catholic Emancipation and Irish independence from Great Britain.

A shafted weapon having a pointed head, formerly used by infantry.
