Rhythms Flashcards
(33 cards)
____ ____ is upward- the SA mode firing which causes atrial contraction.
P wave
___ ___ - the time it takes to travel through SA node pathway to AV node is called
PR interval
___ ___ - impulse is traveling through bundle of his, bundle branches and purkinje fibers
QRS complex
__ ___ - repolarization of ventricles
T wave
ST depression means
Ischemia
ST elevation means
Muscle damage
__ ___ indicates the repolarization of the ventricles
ST segment
Heart has a fail system what is it
If SA fails, then AV Takes over; if AV fails ventricles take over. Heart rate is slower caller Ectopic focus
Most common cause of arrhythmia
Ischemic heart disease
Low or high potassium can cause arrhythmia
Know
Tx for sinus bradycardia
IV atropine sulfate
Normal in athletes
Dangerously fast heart beats greater than 150 bpm.
Super ventricular tachycardia SVT
Tx of SVT
Digitalis/Ca channel & adrenergic blockers to slow HR
Cardiac output drops, can lead to heart failure
Impulse outside SA node causes atria to contract at very rapid rate 2-400bpm
AV node can only conduct some of the impulses to ventricles *Sawtooth flutter waves on EKG
Atrial flutter
Greater than 400 Bpm- atria just quiver do not contract.
Blood clots may form in atria, poor cardiac output
Atrial fibrillation
TX of A Fib
Digitalis, verapamil, propranolol, cardioversion, chemical use, Ibutilide & aspirin and warfarin
Abnormal slowing of electrical impulses through AV node.
AV node dysrhythmia
1 & 2 the impulse is delayed.
3rd=complete- the impulse does not get through and ventricles develop their own rhythm-30bpm- tx is pacemaker
Tx for ventricular dysrhythmia
IV lidocaine bolus then drip
Numbs heart and ventricles
In ____ ___ the ventricles are initiating the heartbeat 150-200 bpm.
Decreased cardiac output- may pass out or be pulse less
May stop abruptly or require defib
Ventricular tachycardia
Rapid irregular twitching of the ventricles
“Dying heart rhythm”
Most dangerous arrhythmia
Ventricular fibrillation
Tx of ventricular fibrillation
CPR-immediate Defibb- epinephrine
___ ___ -force and volume of blood of ejection of P ventricle-reflects ability of arterial system to distant with ventricular contraction
Systolic Bp
___ ___ -pressure in our arteries during ventricular relaxation
Diastolic BP
Reg of BP consists of
Baroreceptors
Chemoreceptors
ANS
Renal- by renin- angiotensin/aldosterone
