List the 5 rights/freedoms.
Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of association, freedom of movement, the freedom to assembly.
Explain how the freedom of speech is limited.
The freedom to speech is limited by the law to prevent defamation and hate speech.
Explain how the freedom of association is limited.
The freedom of association is limited by laws, such as the Criminal Code which criminalises associating with a member of a terrorist organisation and thereby providing support to it, if the person intends that the support assist the organisation.
What is freedom of speech?
The right to express ideas and opinions without government interference or retaliation
What is freedom of association?
The right to join or form groups with others for any reason, as long as it doesn’t harm others
What is the freedom of religion?
The right to choose, hold, or change one’s religious beliefs, and to practice belief in public or private, without interference or discrimination.
What is the freedom of assembly?
The right to peacefully gather with others, express opinions, and engage in public discussion.
What is the freedom of movement?
The right to travel freely within a country, leave and return to one’s own country, and to choose where to live.
