What are the 5 Rights of Individuals
The right of Choice, The right to Confidentiality, The right to Protection from abuse and harm, The right to Equal and Fair Treatment, The right to Consultation.
Explain what the right of Choice is…. Give examples.
Allowing service users to make their own decisions such as choosing their GP, male or female.
Explain what the right of Confidentiality is… Give examples.
Keeping the service users personal information safe and secure with no unauthorised access. For example having the service users private files/ medical files in a secure storage cabinet.
Explain what the right to Protection from Abuse and Harm is… Give examples
Keeping the service user safe by checking all security measures such as security locks on the doors.
Explain what the right to Equal and Fair treatment is… Give examples
Providing the same access of care to all according to their needs. For example Every service user should be given the same opportunity so nobody feels unwelcome.
Explain what the right to Consultation is… Give examples
Having the freedom of speech, being able to have there own say in what they do. Such as, a patient in a surgery would not want tablets just thrown at them, they would want their illness justified.
