What types of landscapes are there?
Coastal, Desert, Mountain, Riverine and Karst
What is a coastal landscape?
A coastal landscape is like a beach
What is a desert landscape?
A sandy, hot area full of cactus
What is a mountain landscape?
A rocky hill landscape
What is a riverine landscape?
A landscape with rivers
What is a Karst landscape?
A rocky cavern
What is a river?
A long stream of water
What is a river source?
It makes the river, it’s usually ice melting
What is a Tributary?
a river or stream flowing into a larger river or lake
What is a Confluence?
the junction of two rivers
What is a Levee?
an embankment built to prevent the overflow of a river
What is a Delta?
The little islands on the end of the river formed through rocks and sand
What is a Estuary?
the tidal mouth of a large river, where the tide meets the stream
What is a mouth?
The end of a river or stream
What is a Channel?
When a river becomes narrow or shallow
It can also be called a Canel
What is an Oxbow Lake?
When a Meander gets to close and decides to break of a bit of itself then it abandons the cut off bit and the little abondoned peice becomes an oxbow lake
What is a Meander?
a winding curve or bend of a river
What are some good things about living near a lake?
Good Scenery, Good Soil, Swimming, Free water, Fun, Food, Exercise, Adventure, Ceremonies and Direction to a beach
What are the bad things about living near a river?
Leeches, Drowning, Floods, Algae, Smelly, Pests, Oil spills, Erosion, Diseases, water gets too close, lots of rubbish
