What business data would you ask a company to see to optimize advertising campaigns?

A

First of all, I would ask information about the target audience. Demographics of the target audience, behavioural and pshycogrvphic information. This info would be used to define the target, select search keywords and shape the message.

Secondly, I would ask about the value proposition of the company (if it isn’t extremely clear through my research) and ask for records of past campaigns to analyse if there are relevant patterns comparing successful and unsuccessful campaign. This pieces of information would be used to optimize the use of keywords and negative keywords.

I would also have a background check if landing pages are user-friendly and readable and if the performance report is designed to give relevant information to make adjustments.

Have you used Adwords in the past? What would you change about it to make it better?

A

I used Adwords to promote Urbanite’s online page. The goal was to increase the conversion rate of bookings through the webpage instead of alternative channels. We increased the conversion rate by 4,5%, which was a major success considering the restricted budget (We fully booked all our properties for the month).

I didn’t have a great experience with the customer service. Since we weren’t a major company I couldn’t get customized advice. I made contact with the call center to have some advice on the optimization campaign but the person gave me standard indications without listening to our customer needs. I believe providing customized customer service even for small business (ours had incredible growth) is a successful long term investment.
