Roles of the RM
Operate as part of the Naval Service
Operate from RN shops and aircraft
Deployed to conflict zones all over the world - including neutralising a terroist threat in North Africa or supporting domestic forces in the Middle EWast
Also support humanitarian missions and peacekeeping operations globally
Ability to reach and work in difficult locations helps them in this role
They are also prepared to respond to and be involved in conflict in some of the most hostile environments across the globe
RM from 43 commando provide constant protection to the UK’s Nuclear Assets
Responsibilities of junior ranks?
Fully trained specialists in their field focusing on specific tasks
Responsbile for lower-level tactical action, fuelling the intent provided to them by the Troop/team commanders/
Assist troop sergeant in management and discipline of Team and Troop
Responsibilities of senior ranks?
You are promoted into senior ranks based on skill, experience and time served
The Senior ranks are subject matter experts in their field and will have many years experience and additional training in this area
supervise the junior ranks as they complete their tasks, which includes effective utiliation of the resources available to them
They are responsible for the administration and discipline of the Team/Troop and ensuring the highest standards of operational effectiveness.
Important in the development of junior officers as they are able to provide support and guidance
Roles of RM Officers
Leadership and management respnsbilities immediatley after training
they have a large breadth of tasks which they are responsbile for
they need to manage the whole department including the divisional care of their team and the development of subordinates
they need to plan ahead while considering the command aim and liase with other departments when necessary
they work closely with NCOs to get specialist advice to allow them to make informed decisions
Roles of the RM band service (RMBS)
The public face of the RM and RN
they help to contribute to the UK’s Defence Diplomacy Strategy by performing at military, ceremonial and social events
the RMBS also provides a vital medical and logistical function, supporting the RN and RM across the world
