ROM Flashcards
(31 cards)
Capsular pattern for the hip
Great limitation in flexion, then internal rotation and abduction, followed by slight extension and minimal external rotation
Capsular pattern for the knee
Gross limitation in flexion, slight in extension
Capsular pattern with the ankle
Limitations with plantarflexion more than Dorsi flexion
Capsular pattern for the shoulder
External rotation> abduction> internal rotation
Capsular pattern for the elbow
Greater limitations with flexion than extension
Capsular pattern for wrist
Flexion and extension are both equally limited
Capsular pattern for thoracic/lumbar
Lateral flexion is equally limited to rotation, followed by extension
Position for hip flexion
Supine or sidelying
Position for hip extension
Prone or sidelying
Position for hip ADD/ABD
Supine
Position for hip IR/ER
Sitting or supine with hip flexed
Position for knee flex/ext
Supine, sidelying, prone
What is the SLR (hamstrings) muscle length test
Have patient lay supine and perform a leg raise keeping knee extended
What is the popliteal angle (90-90) test
Have patient laying supine, flex hip to 90 and then extend knee, measure knee extension angle
Landmark for hip flexion/extension
AOR- greater troch
SA- lateral midline of the pelvis
MA- lateral midline of the femur towards lateral epicondyle
Landmarks for hip ADD/ABD
AOR- ASIS
SA- bilaterally bisect ASIS
MA- anterior midline of the femur to mid patella
Landmarks for hip IR/ER
AOR- mid patella
SA- perpendicular to the floor
MA- anterior midline of the tibia
Landmarks for knee flexion/extension
AOR- lateral epicondyle
SA- lateral midline of femur towards greater troch
MA- lateral midline of fibula to lateral malleolus
Substitutions for hip flexion

PROM and end feel for hip flex/ext
Flex- 0-100/120 soft
Ext- 0-30 firm
PROM and end feel for hip ADD/ABD
ADD- 0-20/30 firm
ABD- 0-40/45 firm
