ao3 for orphan studies
- real life application > helped understand effects and how to prevent the worst (childrens home avoid having large numbers of caregivers for each child)
- fewer confounding variables in romanian orphan study > handed over by loving parents who couldnt afford them not becuase of war > higher internal validity
- conditions not typical of all orphanages > remakrebly poor care
- socially sensitive research and could lead to adoptees being treated differently
