Rotations Flashcards

1
Q

What are the three axes that the body rotates about during a rotation?

A
  1. Longitudinal axis - skills such as turns, pivots, pirouettes, spins, twists
  2. The transverse axis - skills such as saltos, rolls, bar circles
  3. The anterior/posterior axis - skills such as sideward rolls, cartwheels

Q

Rotation mechanics?

A

All rotations are generated or changed according to some simple mechanical principles, and almost all technical coaching rotations is merely maximizing these simple mechanical principles or correcting change in these mechanics

Q

What is the effect of off centre force?

A

The further the off centre force the:
1. Greater will be the rotation
2. The less will be the displacement

Q

Force couple

A

Two off centre forces working together

Ex. Running to a two foot jump, force 1 is the leg push, force 2 is the feet stopping after a fast run
