Followership: displaying attitudes and actions that help a leader succeed
Confidence: faith a person with act effectively
Readiness level = ability + willingness + confidence
Ability: skill to perform a task
Willingness: desire to carry out responsibilities
Confidence: trust in ones abilites
Situational leadership
No best way to influence people - it depends on the situation
Leadership for different scenarios
Selling style: encouraging unsure team members with motivation
Telling style: giving direct instructions to inexperienced followers
Participating style: collaborative approach with skilled individuals
Team readiness considerations
Confidence increases during task performance
Apparent unwillingness may indicate a lack of confidence, not defiance
Ability and willingness influence each other
Effective followers build strong relationships with leaders
Self discipline and leadership: leaders must have self control

Prepared to act in place of company commander

Motivation: the inner force that drives you to act
Incentive: something that incites determination or action
Hierarchy; ranking or order
Leadership and mentorship
Mentor: person who provides guidance and support to someone less experienced
Protege: person receiving guidance from mentor
Edfective mentorship requires:
Understanding the protégés needs
Encouraging growth and learning
Extrinsic vs intrinsic motivation
Extrinsic: driven by external rewards (money, food, fear, awards)
Intrinsic: driven by internal satisfaction (person goals, passion)
