Q

How do you carry out piping for a DPT on liquid services and Why?

A

DPT is mounted below
Orifice Plate because Liquids has a property of Self Draining

16
Q

What is the working principle of Magnetic Flowmeter?

A

It measures volumetric flow rate of liquids.

17
Q

If an operator tells you that flow indication is more, How would you start checking?

A

Step-1 Flush both the impulse lines.
Step-2 If still the indication is more then Check L.P. side for choke
Step-3 If there is no choke on both side then Check the leaks on L.P side.
Step-4 If still problem, Calibrate the transmitter

18
Q

What is absolute pressure?

A

AP is the total pressure present in the system

19
Q

What is Vacuum Pressure?

A

Pressure below atmospheric pressure is known as vacuum pressure

20
Q

What is SMART Transmitter?

A

-It is a microprocessor based transmitter that sends a 4-20 mA signal and it’s more accurate than older transmitters

21
Q

What is the difference between 2 wire, 3 Wire & 4 Wire transmitter ?

A

-2 Wire TX: One common Cable for Power & Signal
-3 Wire TX: 2 wires for signal and power and the third to provide common ground connection.
-4 Wire TX: 2 separate wire for power & 2 separate wire for signal

22
Q

What is Live Zero, or why 4-20 mA signal is prefered over 0-20 mA signal?

A

In 4-20 mA signal 4mA represent minimal value & 20mA represent maximum value.
In 4-20 mA: at lower range value, transmitter output would be 4 mA, & if transmitter is faulty or connection break happens then transmitter output would be 0 mA

23
Q

What are the primary elements for measuring pressure?

A
  1. Bourdon Tube
    2.Diaphragm
  2. Capsule
  3. Bellows
    5.Pressure Springs
24
Q

How to connect D.P. transmitter to a Open tank?

A

For Open Tank: Low Port Side of DPT is vented to Atmosphere

25
What is Dry Leg?
the reference side of a differential pressure (DP) level transmitter where there is no direct contact with the process liquid
26
What is Wet Leg
A process to eliminate head pressure so the dpt can sense just the liquid pressure in a vessel
27
What is the purpose of Zero Trim?
to insure the output of a sensor or transmitter reads zero. This is important for pressures transmitters where a zero reading is crucial for accurate data
28
What is Thermocouple?
Temperature measurement device. TC has two different types of metals, which joined together at one end. When heated, a voltage is created that can be correlated back to the temp.
29
What is RTD?
-Resistor Temperature Detector & its used for precise temperature measurement -typically made of copper, nickel or platinum
