1
Q
what is an isometric action?
A
a muscle action where there is no change in muscle length and no joint movement occurs
2
Q
isoinertial actions
A
most common in physical activity, sport and exercise
- when a muscle action produces movement of the skeleton by either shortening or lengthening the muscle, tension is developed
-this muscle action is dynamic as it causes movement of a body part or limb
- there are two types of dynamic actions: eccentric/concentric
3
Q
concentric action?
A
-produces tension while shortening
- the points of attachment (origin and insertion) come closer together
4
Q
eccentric action?
A
- produces tension while lengthening
- the points of attachment (origin and insertion) move further apart.
5
Q
what are the three types of pennate muscles
A
- Unipennate
- Bipennate
- Multipennate
