What is a Class B fire?
Burning liquid. (Alcohols, oils, ethers etc.)
What is a Class A fire?
Ordinary combustibles. (Paper, plastic, fabric etc.)
What is a Class C fire?
An electrical fire.
What is a Class D fire?
Burning metals.
How to extinguish Class A fires
Water or the ABC extinguisher.
How to extinguish Class B fires
NO WATER! Use ABC, or BC extinguisher.
How to extinguish Class C fires
ABC, BC extinguisher. Nothing conductive, especially water.
How to extinguish Class D fires
Use sand bucket
What are the 3 elements of the fire triangle?
Heat, fuel, and an oxidizing agent.
Tampon symbol?
Compressed gas. Do not drop, expose to heat.
Fire symbol
Combustible/flammable material. Hugh risk of fire. Keep away from oxidizing agents.
Ball on fire symbol?
Oxidizing materials. High risk of explosion/fire. Keep away from flammable materials.
Spooky skull and crossbones symbol
Toxic materials causing immediate and serious effects. Wear protective equipment.
Really excitable T symbol
Materials causing toxic effects. Wear protective equipment and store in designated area.
Scurry circle symbol
Biohazardous infectious materials. May cause disease leading to illness or death.
Chemical hand symbol
Corrosive material. Can cause sever irritation to skin and eyes and damage to tissue.
R symbol
Dangerously reactive materials. Very unstable and may react with water. Handle carefully.
Pol NFPA
Polymerizes under normal conditions
SC NFPA
Suspected carcinogen
