What are the responsibilities of the safety assistant?

Answer 1

1. You are aware of the risks associated with the MRI scanner and know where and when they are present.
2. In case of an emergency or evacuation, you are aware of the procedure to notify ERO (BHV) personnel (calling 2222)
3. making sure that the participant is well-informed about the MRI procedures. This includes:
   Letting them read the information brochure (which can be found on the table in the waiting room)
   Informing them about the MRI safety requirements (i.e. the scanner is a big magnet, it makes a lot of noise, it is important to remain as still as possible)

Question 2

What is and isn’t the safety assistant allowed to do?

Answer 2

Allowed:
* Be in the control room by yourself when there is no participant in the scanner room.
* Inform participants about the MRI experiment procedure.

Not allowed:
*operate the scanner (table and user interface).

Allowed only with explicit permission from operator:
* Enter scanner room
* Press quench button
