Q

Opportunity sampling

A

When you simply approach anyone who happens to be available, for example asking people on the street or friends in your college
- it is the most common method as it is more efficient
- it is not representative

Q

Random sampling

A

Where every member of the population has an equal chance of being selected. The easiest way to do this is to place all the name from a target population into a hat and randomly draw out the required sample.
- avoids a bias selection
- it is not representative

Q

Stratified sampling

A

Where subgroups within the data are identified and participants are randomly selected from these subgroups in a proportion that arches the target population
- time consuming
- less bias
- easy to generalise
- it is representative
