1

What does "survival of the fittest" mean?

Organisms that are best adapted to their surroundings are more likely to survive

2

What is the theory of evolution?

The theory of evolution by natural selection explains how species evolve, or change through time, sometimes changing so much that new species are created.

4

what is genetic modification also known as?

Genetic engineering

5

what is genetic engineering?

Changing the characteristics of an organism by transferring a piece of DNA from one organism to a different organism.

6

What are some advantages of genetic engineering?

-improve crop yield
-introduce herbicide resistance
-better quality of food

7

what are some risks of genetic engineering?

-GMO crops could cause allergic reaction in some people

8

what is selective breeding?

breeders select two parents that have beneficial characteristics to reproduce, and so then the offspring have those desired traits
