Miscellaneous
Descending half step motion signals (what)?
- Tritone Sub
D-7, Db7, C
Db is a tritone sub for G7
Diminished Harmony
All dominant 7th chords built on a diminished chord are (what)?
- Interchangeable
C7b9, Eb7b9, Gb7b9, A7b9, are 5 note chords in which four of the notes in any pair are the same. Because of this, composers will often swap one chord for another, to create harmonic interest. A tritone sub is a common tool in diminished harmony.
What is a backdoor cadence?

The major III7 to I (C7 to Ab) is a bit more unusual, but also found in standards.
