What is Co-operative Education?

Have your parents/guardians email/phone the attendance office to notify them of your absence
What must students demonstrate before they go to their Co-op placement?
All students must demonstrate the understanding of the safety and guidelines at the workplace. While also taking responsibility and all employees have the right to identify the students’ behaviors is unsafe. Please seek clarification before undertaking a task if needed.

Confidentiality
- Be respectful of the confidential nature of informations from your placement

- Be respectful to other people, and treat them the way you want to be treated, as people can be affected by words we write and say.
2.When speaking or texting a message beware of strong language, as people may interpret this behaviour as rude or confusion.
- Be careful with humor and sarcasm on the job. Use such appropriately so it cannot be mistaken as a rude remark or unprofessional. Make it clear that it’s for comedic purposes, however it’s wise to keep emojis and emoticons away from academic papers.
4.Use correct spelling and grammar for proper communication and to be professional. Shortcuts and grammar mistakes should be used for social media platforms.
5.Citing your sources and informing people of where you got your information makes you sound credible and honest.
6.Do not share anything private or inappropriate on the internet because nothing is truly private.
7.Be forgiving to those who do not know these rules and try to understand people’s struggles in communications.

Before the placement begins
Who is the WEA signed by?
Signed by all parties, parents, teachers and employers
At the beginning of your placement, you will be agreeing to your hours on the job (start and finish times). If there is an adjustment to these hours (i.e. working later or earlier, working on a Saturday, working on a PA Day, working on a holiday) you will NOT be covered for insurance. Outline the procedure to follow so you will be covered.
