Scenario Flashcards
(4 cards)
CRM scenario: PF CA, FO is PM. MEM to AUS. Just begun STAR. 10 mins from DAL, 30 mins from AUS. FA says pax is unresponsive, cant wake him up. What do you do?
Use your resources: 2 in (flight crew and passengers) 2 out (ATC and dispatch). What if he’s drunk? Just walk through thought process with that situation. Is there a doctor on board?
What would you do as the Captain if you accidentally flew into a thunderstorm and a passenger was injured from the turbulence, what resources are available to you?
EMS
ATC
Engine failure after V1 (PF or PM), what would I do?
Power up, clean up, verify. Identify then ask the F.O. to run through checklists. I told him I would then declare an emergency with ATC and tell the F.O. to notify the passengers and flight attendants. He then said the F.O. tells you that the flight attendants are saying that there is smoke in the cabin and I told him I would ask the F.O. to get more info about it. Then he says the F.O. comes back with info about the smoke and there was bad communication and I eventually figured out that he wanted me to tell the F.O. to fly and let me handle the emergency.
Told me I was Captain, he was FO, we took off from COS for SLC, enroute at cruise altitude, we noticed the window started to splinter. What are we going to do captain? (Hint there is no right answer)
Since this is riding the line of an emergency, i started working inside (informing crew and FO that we will need to divert) started working outside letting ATC and dispatch know our issues and that we would need to divert, instructed FO to look for diversion airports with adequate weather and airport (landing distance). Finally, touched on the fact that I would likely want to reduce speed and altitude to reduce pressure on the failing windscreen.
