C- My sister's under 21

K-?

That's never stopped me before!

2

T- not so long as i've known you... and zita has been companion for most of my adult life!

K-?

That is a long time!

3

B- You sound disappointed

K-?

Actually I think he's jealous!

4

C- Kissy!

K-?

Saved by the bell, I'll get it!

5

T- Here let me take your coat, Mr.Denton. I'm Theo Travers.

K-?

And i'm Kissy very happy to make your acquaintance I'm sure!

6

E- Kirsten when I was a young lady, it was considered unseemly for a girl to speak to a man without being properly introduced.

K-?

What good did that do?

7

C- Adler there's no call to be snotty!

K-?

Look, while we're waiting for Lu why don't we finish that exposé we started a moment ago?

8

E- Thank you Kirsten thats very thoughtful of you.

K-?

Not really. I guess I'm just as nosey as you are!

9

C- Well I'm here because- well- I'm Connie Travers, Josiah's grandniece and- well - I live here!

K-?

Same goes for me except I'm Kissy not Connie of course!

10

F- Yeah what's going on around here anyhow?

K-?

You may as well know the truth.

11

C- Well he did in a way...
B- what way?

K-?

somebody chopped him up with a meat cleaver into 17 pieces!

12

F- That's easy. We belong to the same aerobics class.

K-?

How disappointing I was hoping you'd met on a professional basis.

13

J- Well wait hold it a minute- I can read some of it right off the bat- but other parts will take a little figuring ..

K-?

Oh! Perhaps thats why Jerry was invited tonight Uncle Josiah knew we'd need someone to unscramble that mess and ...

14

A- Wait a moment - someone should write this down!

K-?

I will!

15

Jerry- it means enjoy dabbling in rebuses. see? in re buses!

K-?

Got it! But that stuff before that comes before it- what do I put down?

16

B- well wait maybe that terminology has its own variations. I mean it could also be "rectangle number two a club"!

K-?

Or even oblong two!

17

M- thats a sign indicating therefore I remember it from my geometry classes in high school!

J- Good for you Mauvins!

K-?

Got it! What's next?!

18

D- What picture are we supposed to look behind?

K-?

Thats the only one in the room..

19

F- But whose faces are those in the picture?

Well on the left thats Sandra Dee the movie actress...

20

T- A wall safe -
L- Sandra Dee

K-?

A paw with a big zit on it!

21

J- Safe!
C- Dee!
B- Paw zit!
K-?

Bachs! Safe deposit box!

22

M- On the contrary you mean the way it makes you not feel. Everything goes totally numb.

K-?

Not as numb as you'd like it to be, though. I can still feel the drilling a little.

23

E- Well perhaps a tiny bit

K-?

Are we taking a dance break or what? Because if we are I want another drink!

24

E- Lets be logical an empty mailbox means there's no mail ..

K-?

Could it refer to a postal holiday?

25

B- Hollow wienies!

K-?

Oh come on Buzzy!

26

B- and why is he pushing a teapot away?

K-?

A teapot wearing a beret!

27

F- Maybe its a french teapot?

K?

Whats french for teapot?

28

F- of course! those are only the last two numbers! that empty mailbox must indicate the numbers that come before them!

K?

But how? What do missing letters have to do with numbers?

29

Z- What is that next drawing anyhow?

K-?

Seems obvious to me - its a sailor lying in the sun!

30

D- that next ones really puzzling!

K-?

The speed limit sign? whats so hard to figure? Zero zero miles per hour- seems simple enough to me!

31

B- but why two diamonds?

K-?

Older! the first diamond is just a setup showing a gem thats of recent age, so we'll know the other one is older!

32

J- Kissy what have you got so far?

K?

Not a lot im afraid. Here's what it says more or less- "My friends please bear with me. I belong to a group whose members enjoy dabbling in rebuses, therefore I have decided to leave my vast fortune to anyone friend relative, or stranger who can decode this message my last will and testament!

33

D- Jerry's right. Go ahead Kissy.

K-?

Okay but here's where it starts getting kind of murky "you will find a large sum of perforated hot dogs in a safe deposit box in lucerne, the number of which is first initially the - that empty mailbox of this group plus 8-2. PS you should also know that I have been - that sailor in the sun- by zero zero mph an older gemini in this very house . Kindly see to the usual legalities inherent in such instances. and then his initials after the ps. and thats it.

34

D- is she kidding?

K-?

Don't scoff Dan, Zita has some very unusual gifts.

35

J- You said you'd never met him- and yet Josiah selected you to be here tonight- after he checked out the names of all the detectives in your department. it must be because your name begins with a D! what other reason could there be?

K-?

But why send for a detective at all?

36

J- Those letters our initials what are they? Lets see taking them alphabetically..

I'd better put them down on paper!

37

J- No no Josiah said first initially! it must be the first name.

K-?

Hold on, I've nearly got it.. Hows this?! Adler, Buzzy, Connie, Dan, Eloise, Flame.. then there's no G, H, or I.. the. Jerry myself - Kissy - Lu .. then we skip to Pippi.. then another skip to Theo and we end with Zita!

38

F- Mauvins!
M- yes m'am?

K-?

Oh, of course! I meant to stop at his name and ask him, and then I was so busy alphabetizing that I forgot.

39

J- Forgot to ask him what?

K-?

His first name of course!

40

C - Mauvins!

K-?

He's been stabbed!

41

C- But why would anybody want to kill Mauvins?

K-?

Who could do such a thing!

42

B- Well one thing we all know for sure?

All- ?

What?

43

T- Eloise will you relax? Uncle Josiah introduced them, himself! You know how fond he was of puzzles!

E- well yes but -

K-?

Don't be such a party poop auntie! a good puzzle constructer can make a very nice living at it, hi im kissy!
