An artful deviation in the standard word or pattern
Understatement
Presenting something being smaller than it is
Irony
A sarcastic statement that has a contradictory meaning
Parallelism
2 or more parts of a sentence are structured the same
Asyndeton
Uses conjunctions to change the tone
Antithesis
two opposites set side by side to show the difference
Polysyndeton
The repeated use of conjunctions to connect things

Repetition of consonants in 2 or more words in a sentence

A mild or indirect work to replace a harsher word

A phrase that means something different than what it says
Personification
A figure of speech that gives a place, idea, or thing human attributes
Onomatopoeia
A word to name a sound
Paradox
An apparent contradiction that has some sense
Oxymoron
Two contradicting words next to each other
Synecdoche
A part is meant to represent a whole
Metonymy
A related concept is used to represent the thing itself
