Schizophrenia
Mental disorder, common in men
paranoid schizophrenia: delusions and hallucinations
hebephrenic schizophrenia: negative symptoms
Positive symptoms
Hallucinations-unusual sensory experiences such as voices heard, seeing distorted facial expressions, seeing non existent things
Delusions (paranoia)-irrational beliefs such as being an important figure/being persecuted/concerning body
results in bizarre behaviour
Negative symptoms
Abolition-difficulty in keeping foal directed activity, reduced motivation (Andreason: poor hygiene, lack of persistence, lack of energy)
Speech poverty-delay in verbal responses
DMS-speech disorganisation (incoherent) which is a positive symptom
