What is interia?
An object that is in motion stays in motion
What are forces?
a push or pull that can change an object’s state of motion or cause it to deform
What is Gravitational Force?
the force of attraction between any two objects with mass
What is Applied Force?
the force that is exerted by one object on one or more other objects
What is Electrical Force?
the attractive or repulsive force between electrically charged objects
What is Magnetic Force?
the force exerted by a magnetic field on a magnetic pole or a moving electric charge
What is Normal Force?
force that surfaces exert to prevent solid objects from passing through each other.
What is Tension Force?
the force transmitted through a rope, string or wire when pulled by forces acting from opposite sides
What is Frictional Force?
the force generated by two surfaces that contact and slide against each other
What is Centripetal Force?
The force on an object on a circular path that keeps the object moving on the path
What is weight?
Weight is the force of gravity acting on an object’s mass.
w=mg is….
weight=mass/acceleration due to gravity
F=ma is……
Force=mass/acceleration
What is scalar?
a quantity that is fully described by its size or magnitude alone
What is vector?
a quantity that has both a size (magnitude) and a direction
What is distance?
the total length of the path an object travels, regardless of direction
What is displacement?
the change in position of an object.
What is speed?
a scalar quantity that describes how quickly an object is moving, or the rate at which it covers distance
What is velocity?
speed with a direction
s=d/t
speed=distance/time
v=d/t
velocity=displacement/time
