science Flashcards
(17 cards)
What is a prediction in a science experiment?
A statement saying what you think will happen and why, based on what you know.
What is the independent variable?
The one thing you change in an experiment.
What is the dependent variable?
The thing you measure or observe in an experiment.
What are controlled variables?
The things you keep the same in an experiment to make it fair.
What makes a test fair?
Only one variable is changed, and all others are controlled
What is accuracy in an experiment?
How exact and careful your measurements are.
What is reliability?
Getting similar results when you repeat the experiment.
How do you analyse data?
Look for patterns or trends in your results.
What is a conclusion?
A statement explaining what you learned from your experiment.
What is energy?
The ability to do work or cause change.
: Name three types of energy.
Kinetic, heat (thermal), light (others: sound, chemical, electrical).
What is an energy transformation?
When energy changes from one form to another (e.g., chemical → heat).
What does the Law of Conservation of Energy say?
Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only changed or transferred.
: What is a renewable energy source?
: What is a renewable energy source?
What is energy efficiency?
How much useful energy you get out compared to what you put in.
How do you read a graph?
Look at the labels, units, and see how one thing changes compared to another.
