What is the scientific method?
The scientific method is a process for experimentation that is used to explore observations and answer questions.
What is physical science?
How scientists think. The way of learning about the natural world by gathering info.
How is information collected?
By observing, inferring, and predicting.
Observing
Using your senses to gather info. See, hearing, tough, taste, and smell.
Qualitative -
Descriptive obseverations that do not use numbers
Quantitative-
Measurements, numerical data
Inferring
An example of your obsevation based on prior knowledge
Perdicting
Forecasting what will happen in the future based on past experience or evidence.
Variables
Are fators that can change in an experiment.
A variable that is expected to change as a result
Dependent variable
Independent variable
Only one variable is purposely changed by the experimenter.
Hypothesis
Is a possible explanation for something observed.
what is a controlled experiment
where some aspect of the experiment is controlled like the subject, environment, specimen, variable, etc.
