Breaking down nutrients
What does the mouth do?
It chews food and breaks it into pieces by teeth to increase the surface area and add salvia which in the saliva there is an enzyme called amylase which breaks down nutrients and protein
What are the muscles in the oesophaus used for?
They push food down the throat the process is called peristalsis
What part of the digestive system is this?
It is a bag of muscles that churns food and mixes it with digestive juices

What does the pancreas do?
It converts food into small soluble which allows it to be absorbed by the blood stream

22 feet
How long is the large intestine?
About 5 feet
What does the small intestine do?
Adds more digestive juices are added and nutrients are absorbed into the blood stream.
