Classification
A category into which something is put.
Taxonomy
The branch of science concerned with classification, especially of organisms.
Kingdom
The second highest taxonomic rank below domain.
Phylum
A taxonomic rank below kingdom and above class.
Class
A taxonomic rank.
Order
A taxonomic rank used in the classification of organisms and recognized by the nomenclature codes.
Family
One of the eight major taxonomic ranks.
Genus
A taxonomic rank used in the biological classification of living and fossil organisms in biology.
Species
Group of closely related organisms that are very similar to each other and are usually capable of interbreeding and producing fertile offspring.
Animalia
The taxonomic kingdom comprising all animals.
Chordata
Animals possessing a notochord, a hollow dorsal nerve cord, pharyngeal slits, an endostyle, and a post-anal tail for at least some period of their life cycles

Dichotomous Key
A tool that allows the user to determine the identity of items in the natural world, such as trees, wildflowers, mammals, reptiles, rocks, and fish.
Domain
A specified sphere of activity or knowledge.
Archaebacteria
Microorganisms that are similar to bacteria in size and simplicity of structure but radically different in molecular organization. They are now believed to constitute an ancient intermediate group between the bacteria and eukaryotes.
Bacteria
A large domain of prokaryotic microorganisms.
Protista
Any of a diverse taxonomic group and especially a kingdom
Fungi
Any member of the group of eukaryotic organisms that includes unicellular microorganisms such as yeasts and molds, as well as multicellular fungi that produce familiar fruiting forms known as mushrooms.
Plantae
Multicellular eukaryotes of the kingdom Plantae.
