Science Final Flashcards
(11 cards)
What are chemical bonds?
Atoms coming together to create chemical compounds and stabilize the product
What are the differences between ionic and covalent bonds?
Ionic bonds are chemical bonds between oppositely charged ions (often a metal and a non-metal) while Covalent bonds share valence electrons to become stable ( often two or more non-metals).
How can a solution be determined to be ionically or covalently bonded?
How do we determine the density of an object?
D=m/v
How do we find the mass, volume, density of regularly shaped objects?
Volume:
Length x Width x Height
Mass:
Weigh it
Density :
Mass / Volume
How do we find the mass, volume, density of irregularly shaped objects?
Volume:
Water displacement method
Mass:
Weigh it
Density:
Mass / Volume
What are the correct units to use?
Mass:
Kilograms (kg) and Grams (g)
Time:
Seconds (s)
Length:
Meters (m)
How can we calculate the average speed of an object? What are the correct units to use?
to calculate the average speed divide distance traveled by time taken to travel (m/s) - meters per second.
How does the mass of an object affect its average speed?
It affects how easily it can accelerate or de-accelerate.
What are the components of a graph?
Independent and dependent variables, constants, trials, data, and units.
