What is an independent?
It is the variable that is changed in an investigation, to see what effect it has on the dependent variable.
What is a dependent variable?
It is a variable that is measured to observe any changes in response to differences, in the independent variable in an investigation.
What is a controlled variable?
Variables that are not the IV or DV, so should be held constant.
What is validity
It is whether a method actually measures what you’re looking for, and whether other variables might be significantly impacting results.
Validity is high if what?
o The DV is appropriately measured.
o All variables are controlled, both in the method and when carrying out the experiment.
o The experiment is repeated multiple times (i.e. a large sample size).
o There is a control group (i.e. a subject with a ‘zero’ value of the IV).
o There are no significant errors or mistakes.
What is Systematic errors?
A cause results to be wrong by the same amount each time.
