Q

What is the scientific method

A

A process of investigation in which problems are identified and their suggested explanations are tested by carrying out experiments

Q

Whats Observation

A

Observation is the most important part of the
scientific method. Observations may be obtained
directly by our senses (seeing, hearing, etc.) or
indirectly by the use of equipment such as micro-
scopes and thermometers.
Observations that are properly taken and
recorded provide the basis for all the facts relating to
a problem.

Q

How do you ensure an experiment is safe

A

Tie back long hair.
Wear a laboratory coat if handling biological
material.
Wear safety goggles when necessary.
- Never place your fingers in your eyes or mouth
unless you have washed your hands.
Avoid contact between electrical equipment and
water.
- Be aware of the safety information when using
chemicals.
- Report all accidents to a teacher.

Q

What is ecology

A

Ecology is the study of interactions between living things and their environment

17
Q

What is a population

A

Population is all the members of the same species in an area

18
Q

What is a community

A

Community contains many different populations

19
Q

What is a habitat

A

Habitats place in which organisms live it is also the area studied on Field trips

20
Q

What is a food web

A

The food web is a series of interlinked Food chains

21
Q

What is a Pyramid of numbers

A

Pyramid of numbers is a representation of the number of organisms at each trophic level

22
Q

What is an Niche

A

Is the rule an organism plays in the community
