What is the scientific method
A process of investigation in which problems are identified and their suggested explanations are tested by carrying out experiments
Whats Observation
Observation is the most important part of the
scientific method. Observations may be obtained
directly by our senses (seeing, hearing, etc.) or
indirectly by the use of equipment such as micro-
scopes and thermometers.
Observations that are properly taken and
recorded provide the basis for all the facts relating to
a problem.
What’s hypothesis
A hypothesis is an educated guess based on
observations.

An experiment is designed to test a hypothesis

Data consists of the measurements observations or info gathered from experiments

a theory is a hypothesis that has been supported by many different experiments.
How do you ensure an experiment is safe
Tie back long hair.
Wear a laboratory coat if handling biological
material.
Wear safety goggles when necessary.
- Never place your fingers in your eyes or mouth
unless you have washed your hands.
Avoid contact between electrical equipment and
water.
- Be aware of the safety information when using
chemicals.
- Report all accidents to a teacher.
