In the presence of staphylocoagulase (which is present in MRSA), the substrate mimic or tripeptide from the chromophore is cleaved resulting to a coloured rhodamine fluorophore as it will be released

Five day treatment using body wash / shampoo containing Chlorhexidine
Nasal ointment - bactroban (containing mupirocin), prontoderm (containing antibiotic polyhexanide), naseptin (containing neomycin and chlorhexidine + peanut oil)
