What is subtraction in sculpture?
It is the method in which sculptors cut away or remove pieces of the material (glyptic material) such as stone or wood.
What tools are used in the subtraction method?
Tools include chisels, hammers, torches, saws, grinders, and polishers.
What is manipulation in sculpture?
Also known as modeling, it involves the use of a pliable medium such as clay, wax, or plaster.
What is addition in sculpture?
This technique involves putting together materials through welding torches, soldering guns, staplers, bolts, screws, nails, rivets, glue, and rope or string.
What is welding?
It is the process of joining together pieces of metal by heating the surfaces to the point of melting and uniting them by pressing and/or hammering.
What is substitution in sculpture?
Also known as casting, it involves reproducing an original 3D image in a new material using a mold.
What is sand casting?
A metal casting process characterized by using sand as the mold material.
What is plaster casting?
Similar to sand casting, except the material used is plaster.
What is lost-wax casting?
A process that involves pouring molten metal into a mold made of wax.
What is constructed sculpture?
A product of assemblage, where materials like wood, metal, wire, plastic, and found objects are attached through various additive techniques.

This kind of sculpture addresses how motion or movement may be portrayed in sculpture.
