Q

How does it work?

A

Prevents decay caused by bacteria. It works by having a protective layer over top the grooves in the tooth that are hard to keep clean with just brushing
alone.

Q

Post Op Instructions

A
  1. Show the sealant using the patient mirror – watch for cross-contamination.
  2. Sealants are one part of a prevention program and are not a substitute for other preventive measures. The patient should also continue to limit dietary sugars, continue to use fluorides, and maintain proper oral hygiene measures to reduce dental plaque biofilm
  3. You must have a soft food diet for 48 hours after sealant placement. Additionally, avoidance of biting on hard items will increase sealant retention
  4. Sealants should be checked at each subsequent dental visit for partial or complete loss and should be replaced if lost or leaking
