  1. Royalist and Scottish troops rose in July 1648 which started the second civil war
  2. Most uprisings were easily crushed by parliamentarian forces
  3. Kent, Essex, Wales and Scotland proved more difficult
  4. BATTLE OF PRESTON 17th August 1648 - the Scots were defeated and the 2nd civil war came to an end
