Descriptive Statistics
Summarizing and visualizing variables and relationships between two variables
Frequency Table
Shows the number of cases that fall in each category
Proportion
Proportion in a category is found by:
P = number in category / total sample size
Relative Frequency Table
Shows the proportion of cases that fall in each category
Bar Chart / Plot / Graph
The height of the bar corresponds to the number of cases falling in each category
Pie Chart
In a pie chart, the relative area of each slice of the pie corresponds to the proportion in each category
Two-Way Table
A Frequency table that displays two different categories collected from a single group
Difference in proportions
A difference in proportions for one categorial variable calculated for different levels of the other categorical variable
Side-by-side Chart
The height of each bar is the number of the corresponding cell in the two-way table
