A

Its more measured
Both sides to the argument- Logical
Writing to argue is a less passionate way than when writing to persuade
Only thing you need to do differently is to argue and counter-argue
Your response will be a little bit more balanced

A

Far more biased
You need to be pushy, positive & passionate- Emotive
Remember to have a clear line of argument and a structured response

A

You need to simply be clear, factual & neutral
Give detailed information
Subheadings can be useful here

A

Writing to advise is much like persuade and argue except it is a little more gentle
Passionate but more gentle
You are telling them that you are doing this to help them
It is for their benefit

A

To explain is perhaps the trickiest purpose out there
‘Explain your point of view’ Be careful, as this does not just want your opinion
Explain means you need to write for & against & then your opinion
The format as given the reasons for, give reasons against & your opinion

A

2 things you need to remember if it is a letter is:
Adress- their address on the left - your address on the right and first
Correct ending- Sincerely if you do not know them and its formal - Faithfully if it is informal and you know them
Don’t worry about anything else if it is a letter

A

Make sure that you include headings and subheadings
In a formal article the heading needs to be a full sentence
In an informal article the headings need to be a short, snappy slogan
DO NOT WRITE IN COLUMNS!!

A

Address a crowd- ‘Ladies and Gentlemen, today…..’
Have an exciting opening paragraph - A rhetorical question is always a good way to start
Have an exciting ending- slogan or direct address often works well here

A

Include a catchy title/heading
Include subtitles to separate the different sections- use questions as your subtitles
