Semester 1 Final Flashcards
(31 cards)
How do you make motion frozen?
Shoot at fast shutter speed (higher than 1/60)
How do you make motion blurred?
Slow ss (under 1/60)
How do you take a panning picture?
Move camera during exposure at the same speed as subject
What is time exposure
When shutter remains open for more than one second
What is aperture
Opening in the lens through which light passes
3 ways to control depth of field
Aperture size (opp), distance of subject from camera, focal length of lens (opp)
3 types of depth of field
Shallow- only subject is focused and sharp
Moderate- some area behind/in front of subject is in focus
Great- everything is in focus
What are visual elements?
Gives a picture visual appeal or impact
What is composition
The deliberate arrangement of visual elements in a photograph
What is a pixel
Smallest unit of brightness and color in an image
How many pixels are in a megapixel
1 million
What is resolution
Measure of pixels, detail, quality
What is interpolation?
Used to increase or decrease number of pixels in an image
What is noise?
Artifacts such as unwanted info, grain in films
What is CCD
(Charge couple device) converts light to electrical energy
What is ISO
(International standard organization) indicates how much light is needed to properly expose an image
What is LCD
(Liquid crystel display) form of viewing photos, gives immediate composing and proofing capabilities
What is a JPEG?
(Joint photographic expert group) compresses info to save space
What is RAW
Only offered by some cameras, needs camera software to open
What is a TIFF?
(Tagged image file format) uncompressed format offered by mid-range cameras
What is a PSD?
Photoshop document
Read over “tools and tool options” handout
In folder
What is shutter speed?
Controls length of time light is allowed to reach camera’s sensor
Lossy compression?
Storing a file as a JPEG compresses a photo/gets rid of unwanted info
