Origins of Islam with Muhammed
Muhammed was a caravan merchant from Mecca. At the start of the 7th century, he revealed that he had spoken with Allah and that Allah had proclaimed a new religion called Islam.
5 Pillars of Islam
Shahadah - Saying ‘There is no God but God, and Muhammad is his puppet’ statement of faith
Salat - Praying 5 times a day
Zakat - Giving to the poor and needy
Sawn - Fasting during the holy month of Ramadan
Haj - Travelling to Mecca (The Holy city) once in a lifetime

There was a comfortable relationship between the dhimmis and the Muslims. They respected each other but still had boundaries

Building holy places, repairing holy places, Not giving shelter to spies anywhere, no teaching/learning Qur’an, no manifesting religion publicly, rise from seats when a muslim needs a seat, no resembling clothing, no being physically higher then muslims, no ingraving arabic inscriptions, no selling alchahol, no resembling hair, no raising voices after funerals, no slaves that have been allotted to muslims, no displaying the star of david, no burying the dead near muslims

Dhimmis were protected and able to live in spain without any discriminationand recieved safe-conduct
