what is pain?
a physiological response to an unpleasant stimuli
what is referred pain?
pain that is being felt in another part of the body than it actually is

a progressive disorder that causes light and other objects to not be percieved correctly by our eyes

an infection of the conjunctiva that presents with itchiness, mucus discharge, and redness

increased occular pressure of the eyes
what does the glaucoma do the eye?
the increased pressure can cause ischemia and thus can cause blindness. this is the second leading cause of blindness in adults

diabetic retinopathy
what are cataracts?
an occlusion of the lens
what are some risk factors for cataracts?
family history, smoking
what is macular degenration?
deterioration of the macula and the retina
what are manifestations of macular degenration?
cloudy or blurry vision, blindness

family history, smoking, exposure to uv rays
what is retinal detatchment?
when the retina detaches from its accessory structures
what are the manifestations of retinal detatchment?
its often painless, but sometimes it can manifest as light flashes

abscence of the auricle

age related hearing loss
what is otis media?
an infection of the middle ear that usually presents with younger kids
what does otis media manifest with?
pain, crying, fluid accumulation
what are treatments for otis media?
oral antibiotics
what is otis externa?
an ear infection that presents close to the external ear
what are risk factors for otis externa?
swimming in contaminated waters, scratching ears
what is tinnitus?
hearing abnormal sounds
