What is a sentence?
Made up of words and expresses a complete thought. Possess a subject and predicate.
A kind of sentence that makes a statement, can relay information, and ends with a period.
Declarative Sentence
A kind of sentence that asks a question and ends in a question mark.
Interrogative Sentence
A kind of sentence that also ends in a period but orders or requests something.
Declarative/Imperative Sentence
A kind of sentence that ends in an exclamation point and conveys a strong emotion or feeling.
Exclamatory Sentence
A sentence that only has a single independent clause
Simple Sentence
A sentence that contains two or more independent clauses
Compound Sentence
A sentence that has one independent clause and one or more dependent clauses.
Complex Sentence
A sentence that has 2 or more independent clauses and 1 or more dependent clause.
Compound - Complex Sentence
It completes the meaning expressed by a verb or a linking verb. To complete an incomplete sentence
