Bored boring boredom
Afraid vs worried vs frightened
Afraid → General fear or reluctance.
I’m afraid of the dark.
She’s afraid to speak in public
Worried → Anxiety about something specific.
I’m worried about my exam results.
She was worried when her son didn’t come home on time
Frightened → A sudden or intense fear.
The loud noise made the child frightened.
She was frightened when she saw a snake
Sleepy
Sleepy – Feeling tired and ready to sleep.
Example: I felt so sleepy during the meeting that I could barely keep my eyes open.
Cheer up
Cheer up – To become happier or make someone feel better.
Example: She was feeling sad, so I told her a joke to cheer her up.
Curious
Curious – Wanting to know or learn something; showing interest in something.
Example: The child was curious about how airplanes fly.
Thankful
Thankful – Feeling grateful or appreciative for something.
Example: I am thankful for your help during my project.
Sad vs blue vs depressed
. Sad – A general feeling of unhappiness, often temporary.
• She felt sad when her friend moved away.
2. Blue – A casual or poetic way to say “sad,” often used for mild sadness.
• I’m feeling a little blue today, but I don’t know why.
3. Depressed – A deep and lasting sadness, sometimes a medical condition.
• He has been feeling depressed for weeks and decided to see a doctor
Hopeful
Hopeful – Feeling positive or optimistic about something in the future.
Example: She is hopeful that she will pass the job interview.
Annoyed vs upset
Annoyed – A mild irritation caused by something frustrating or bothersome.
• I was annoyed by the loud music in the library.
2. Upset – A stronger emotional reaction, often involving sadness, disappointment, or distress.
• She was upset when she didn’t get the job she wanted
Starving
Starving – Extremely hungry, feeling a strong need for food.
Example: I skipped lunch, and now I’m starving!
Pride
Pride – A feeling of satisfaction and respect for oneself or others, often due to achievements or qualities.
Example: She felt a sense of pride when she graduated with top honors.
Pessimistic
Pessimistic – Expecting bad things to happen or seeing the negative side of situations.
Example: He is pessimistic about the team’s chances of winning the match.
Nosy
Nosy – Being too interested in other people’s business or private matters.
Example: My neighbor is so nosy; she always asks personal questions about my life.
Like a kid with a toy

Cry me a river
Cry me a river – A sarcastic expression used to tell someone to stop complaining or being overly dramatic about something.
Example: “You’re upset because you lost a game? Cry me a river and move on!”
Example: He kept complaining about his job, so I just said, “Cry me a river. At least you have one!”
Black and blue
Black and blue – Covered in bruises or badly hurt, either physically or emotionally.
Example (Physical): After falling off his bike, his leg was black and blue.
Example (Emotional): She was black and blue after the harsh criticism from her boss.
Harsh
Harsh – Very severe, unkind, or unpleasant.
Example: The teacher’s harsh words made the student feel embarrassed.
Criticism
Criticism – The act of pointing out faults or mistakes in someone or something.
Example: She took the criticism of her work as a chance to improve.
