Q

Explain the imporant of meiosis

A

Halves the chromosome number to propduce a haploid nucleus so that at fertilisation a full set of chromosomes is restored

Q

How do we prevent polyspermy

A

Sperm cell fuses with the memrbane of teh cell membrane
Cortical granules moves towards the cell memrbae of the egg cell.
The cortical reaction happens where the cortical granules releases subtances into jelly layer which causes the hardening of the zona pellucida
There is a change in charge of egg cell membrane
