not autocorrect correcting ayup to yup TnT djslufhs;
Human beings are ___ beings.
sexual
What is sexuality?
It’s more than just sexual feelings or sexual intercourse. It also has to do with how we feel about ourselves and how we deal with our own and other’s sexuality in our lives.
What happens during the teenage years (in relation to sexuality?)
These are the years when we experience a great deal of change- not just our bodies, but also our emotions and thoughts go through changes. This is the time when our bodies change in order that we can… umm… reproduce. Unlike many other species, however, humans engage in sexual activity even when we do not want to have a baby.
How can we develop a healthy attitude to our sexuality?
If our self-image is strong and our self-esteem is high, we will develop a healthy attitude towards our sexuality. We will understand that there is no need to have sex in any was if we do not feel ready for it. We will also understand the many risks of having sex, such as pregnancy and STD’s (sexually transmitted diseases).
____ and _____ play a big role in the lives of teenagers.
friends
peers
What is something that can influence the need to either become sexually active or pretend to be sexually active? (there r quite a few ik, but like main one?? I didn’t know how to phrase the question lol I’m sry :] )
peer pressure :D
Why do many teens pretend to be sexually active?
So that they feel they belong in a group.
How can peer pressure negatively and positively affect a teen (in regards to sexuality)?
Negatively, a teen may feel the need to pretend to be sexually active, or actually become sexually active before they feel ready, so that they can ‘belong.’
Positively, if your friend and peers have a positive attitude towards sex and make mature decisions regarding sex, you are likely to follow that. It is better to wait until you have a steady relationship with a partner, before having sex.
What is… the truth? (IM QUOTING FROM THE TXTBK I SWEAR)
Your friends and peers are probably as confused and unsure as you are about issues regarding sexual intercourse, sexuality and the other issues we’ve covered, and can give you the wrong information.
Friends and peers have a huge influence in ________ and figuring out the _________.
- shaping your identity
- roles you have to play in life
As teenagers try to find their identity and acceptable roles, they also face…?
pressure to give in to their new sexual desires.
What is a value?
Something we hold to be important to us. For example, we can value kindness, honesty, and our health. Some people might value money and winning. Cultures have values too.
It is possible that what a culture values will have an impact on a teenager’s ____.
developing sexuality
Discuss cultures in which males are valued more than females.
Norms will develop that will show the way each group is valued. Men will be seen as more important, get better education than women ( >:0 R U D E), and have better jobs, and in some cultures be the only people who are educated or who may hold jobs. It is possible that in such a culture, abuse of women, sexual abuse and rape could be considered as being acceptable practices. (WHAT IN THE HOLY MOTHER OF TUBBO)
What do many cultures believe is unacceptable?
Homosexuality. These relationships may be forbidden. In these cultures, laws are made that are harmful towards gay and lesbian people. In SA same sex marriages and relationships are protected by the Constitution.
Name four places social pressure can come from.
-their families
-their community
-their culture
-their peers
(FCCP)
What is social pressure?
Social pressure is the pressures that come from a persons’s family, community, culture, and peers. Each one of these groups would like the teenager to conform to their norms and values. This can cause a great deal of pressure for the teen.
What can also add additional pressure to social pressure?
Media.
How can the media affect a teenager and their sexuality?
The media created a sense of what teenagers should look like and behave. If the view the media has of the ‘ideal teen’ or ‘acceptable behaviour’ is different from what the teenager believes, conflict and develop. Media can make teens question their appearance, values, the the norms in their culture. In all these instances, a teen has to work to develop their own sense values while coming to terms with a sexual identity that is being formed.
How can media negatively and positively affect a teenager in regards to sex and their sexuality?
Media representations of sex and sexuality can be a negative influence on teenage sexual decision-making if the norms and values create conflict. The media can also play a positive role by presenting information on sexuality and responsible sexual behaviour.
How can television shows be confusing for teens?
The plot line doesn’t make sense at all?? And happy endings aren’t realistic?? Jk jk lmao…
In many television programs sexuality is shown as being very important. Having casual sex is also a theme in many television series’s. This can be very confusing for teenagers. (not if you have your head screwed on, guys :] )
What question is especially relevant during adolescence?
‘Who am I?’ (y e s this was in the textbook I’m not kidding)
What is an identity crisis? (legitimate question)
The combination of physical, mental and social changes and the serious life choices to be faced are called an identity crisis. This identity crisis serves as a turning point in adolescence.
