Advances in scientific understanding in one field can influence and be influenced by other areas of science,
acceptance and use of scientific knowledge influenced by social, economic, cultural, and ethical considerations.

Why are these scientists doing this research? Why is society/the government providing the money to do this research? What is to be gained? Is there ethical/environmental/social/economic/cultural reasons which are impacting the development of this research?
Application and Limitation: key words
enable scientists to develop solutions, discoveries, design action for sustainability, evaluate economic, social, cultural, and environmental impacts, offer valid explanations, and make reliable predictions.
beneficial or unexpected consequences
requires monitoring, assessment, and evaluation of risk and provides opportunities for innovation.
