What is Tolerance?
A tolerance is an acceptable amount of dimensional variation that will still allow an object to function correctly.
What are 3 types of fits?
- Clearance Fits
- Force Fits
- Transition Fit
What is Clearance Fit?
Designed where parts need to slide or rotate.
A clearance exists between assembled parts under all tolerance conditions
What is Force Fit?
Where parts need to be joined as one part.
Interference exists between assembled parts under all tolerance conditions.
What is a Transition Fit?
Either a clearance or interference exists between parts.
What is Screw Thread?
A ridge of uniform section in the form of a helix.
