  • Extrinsic: when action is dependent upon or controlled by external forces (money, trophey, etc)

What are the Three Levels of Listening?

A

Inefficient or Selective: selectively tune in and out, preparing what to say next, leads to misunderstandings

Minimal: you listen but you don’t hear all the details, little beyond surface meaning, miss the emotions

Active or Reflective: most effective level of listening, focused on content, emotions and feelings, you must acknowledge, respond and give appropriate feedback to what was stated
