What external manoeurveres are done?
McRobert’s manoeuvre (patient lie on back with hips flexed and abducted)
Apply suprapubic pressure!
What pressure can you apply to mcroberts manoeuvre?
Suprapubic pressure
What order to perform internal manouveres?
Rubins
Woods
Delivery posterior arm
What is the rubins manoeuvre?
insert hand behind anterior shoulder and push towards babys chest
What is woods screw manouevre?
insert second hand (after rubins) to apply pressure to front of posterior shoulder to aid rotation
Shoulder dystocia can cause damage to upper brachial plexus which can cause what palsy?
Erbs palsy : adduction and internal rotation of right arm
What is the position of erbs palsy called?
‘Waiter’s tip’
What is the turtle neck sign?
foetal head retracts back into perineum : shoulder dystocia
In what position are internal manoeuvres done?
All four
What is cleidotomy or symphysiotomy?
Division of foetal clavicle or maternal symphysial ligament
What is the zavanelli mavoeuvere?
Replace head in canal and delivery with c section
