How to open the bonnet

A

Release lever in the footwell on drivers side, then release lever underneath the bonnet

Open the bonnet and tell me how you’d check that the engine has sufficient oil

A

Point at the dipstick and say that I would pull out the dipstick, wipe all the oil off of it with a cloth and then put it back in and pull it out again.
It should leave an oily mark between the minimum and maximum markers

A

Check the engine coolant and look on the side of it. The liquid should be between the minimum and maximum markings. If I had to top it up I would only do so when it was cold

A

The brake fluid container will have a lid with a little circle on it between a set of brackets. Down its side the liquid should be between the maximum and minimum markings

A

Drive forwards slowly and press the foot brake. It shouldn’t feel spongy or slack, and the car shouldn’t pull to one side

A

I would check all the tyres including the spare tyre when they’re cold, using an air pressure gage. Information will either be in the drivers manual or on a door pillar

A

The head rest should be adjusted so the rigid part is at least as high as my eye and as close to the back of my head as comfortable

A

Check all tyres using a tread depth gage. The depth should be no less than 1.6mm across the centre of the tyre. There also shouldn’t be an y cuts or bulges on the tyre.

To turn them on I would turn on the dipped headlights, then press the rear fog light button which faces to the left. I would know it’s on by seeing a warning light on the dash

I’d turn on the dipped headlights, then push my indicator stick away from me. A warning light will appear to show that the main beam is on
