sin
an action against God’s rules; the deliberate turning away from God.
God gave humans free will so it is up to humans to decide for themselves how to behave.
the original sin
christians believe all humans are descended from adam and eve, which means that they all have the ability to disobey God. original sin occurred when Adam and Eve were tempted and committed the first sin.
genesis 3 tells the story of how sin first entered the world when they were tempted by the devil (represented as a Serpent) in the garden of eden and ate an apple from the tree of knowledge after God had instructed them not to. for this they were banished from the garden.
evil has now entered the world - this is known as the Fall of mankind.
eve’s part in the fall of mankind:
“When the woman saw the fruit of the tree she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband and he ate it.” (Genesis 3:6)
opportunity to escape sin:
god has given humanity the opportunity to make this right through the incarnation and sacrifice of God the son.
through faith and good works, humanity can be saved from eternal punishment and separation from God.
